MOLOSroto rotary paddles avoid explosions even in very dusty environments! Even it is difficult to imagine, working in such an environment is life threatening. Dust is able to explode! The reasons for that are the increased reactivity and the lower thermal conductivity due to the large specific surface area. For example a fire ball with more than 15 m in diameter arises, if only 1.5 kg of pulverised lignite is detonated by a spark. But what might dust mean? Dust consists of smallest, finely divided solid particles of any shape, structure and density with a particle size of less than 0.5 mm that sediment due to the self-weight but although remain airborne as a dust/air mix for a time. This especially applies to the transport of cement clinker. The clinker leaves the furnace cooling system at temperatures of up to 600 °C and is stored temporarily in the clinker silo. To ensure a trouble-free transport of the clinker, the conveying system must withstand these high temperatures. In addition, low purchase costs, as well as operation and maintenance expenses, are important factors in the cement industry. With its state-of-the-art belt apron conveyor, BEUMER offers an integrated solution which is tailored specifically to meet these requirements. This solution is based on field-proven belts as used in our bucket elevators. Depending on the field conditions, purchasing costs can be up to 20 percent lower than for apron conveyors with a chain as traction element. The cells transporting the hot material are not moved by a chain, but by a belt.

Totalization of throughput The CTW batch scale is used to measure quantities of bulk goods which flow either in a continuous or interrupted manner. The individual batches are weighed, and the measured weight is added to an overall quantity. Upon instruction, the measurement ends and the quantity is reset. This allows material flows to be balanced and evaluated from an economic point of view in the production process. This is especially interesting for return material that can be utilized in the production process as a valuable regrind or recycled material. The design of CTW is optimized for regrind of various quality. The material discharge is generously dimensioned so that even rough or bridge-building material can be reliably removed. The scale also features adaptive filling. This function ensures that material is weighed reliably even when the bulk density changes.
