Suited to application
Depending on the application, different features come to the fore and determine the choice of load cell type. While single point load cells are used for smaller platforms or in various systems, shear beam load cells are used in floor scales, hopper scales or silo scales. Some applications require very fast weight determination, where bending beam load cells have a clear advantage.
Material choice
The material is also often a selection criterion. Aluminium offers excellent properties for obtaining high-resolution results at smaller nominal loads. Tool steel is comparatively inexpensive and offers a wide range of applications. Stainless steel is indispensable for some applications, such as in the food industry.
Protection class
The protection class poses a special challenge to some manufacturers. Our range of products includes load cells with protection classes IP65 to IP69K. For some load cells, constructive protection is also available, which allows applications up to IP69K.
Customised load cells
For some applications there is no perfect solution in the standard. Therefore, we have already developed load cells many times based on customer requirements, which are optimally adapted to the requirements. Last year, customised load cells accounted for around 40 % of sales compared to standard load cells.
