The Gericke continuous blenders for pharmaceutical formulation have been approved for use in explosive atmospheres. It fulfills the requirements for category 1 with a minimum ignition energy of > 1 mJ. Thus, the blenders are certified to be used in ATEX zone 20 without any need for inertisation or additional safety measures. About Continuous Manufacturing of OSD: Most pharmaceutical granules and tablets are produced in batches, not just when preparing the raw components in accordance with the formula but also when mixing the excipients with the active ingredients. After a long period during which the traditional batch process dominated the pharmaceutical manufacturing of OSD, the Food and Drug Administration and the European Medicines recognized the advantages of continuous manufacturing. This removed the regulatory barriers, which historically had held back the increased use of inline feeding and blending processes in the manufacture of drugs. Gericke’s

Transport of poorly flowing cocoa powder
Reliable and food-safe transport of poorly flowing cocoa powder for beverage production; pneumatic conveying, storage, feeding and mixing system. Cocoa powders are used to provide the characteristic taste and colour of chocolate beverages. Finely ground cocoa powders are usually mixed with the other ingredients to make the beverage powders. Handling cocoa powder can be tricky due to the nature and the fineness of the powder. Gericke has successfully supplied, installed and commissioned a pneumatic conveying, storage, feeding and mixing system for the production of chocolate drinks. Cocoa powder should be processed at temperatures below 30°C and under dry conditions. The reason for this is that it is a hygroscopic product that would absorb moisture and form lumps, which would affect its flavour and make processing difficult. Therefore, it is advantageous to have a closed processing system that protects the product from possible contamination and interaction with the environment. Gericke uses pneumatic conveying systems in which the product is introduced into a pipeline through a special device and transported

Speed up your project execution with Gericke Pre-Engineering
A successful project needs a well-executed concept phase. With customized pre-engineering, supported by trials in one of the test centres, Gericke enables its customers to put their investment decisions on a solid basis. The crucial planning phase In this phase, the focus is on developing the right process solution and selecting the appropriate machinery and equipment. This can be for new systems or the modernisation and expansion of existing plants. Often, engineering in existing plants brings additional challenges, with limited space and time frames when on-site work is possible, and to minimise downtime. 3D scans in conjunction with CAD are a perfect tool to plan adaptations to existing plants and installations. Upgrading existing facilities pay significant dividends, especially if energy consumption or waste volumes can be reduced and the level of automation increased. Trials and tests Tests on an industrial scale reduce planning time and increase process
