Prevent particle contamination of sensitive screw assembly components Just as an aggressive virus can cause illness in humans, the smallest particles can damage components and lead to malfunctions or, if used as system components, could even lead to a complete system failure. There are many reasons that such hazardous particles may be generated during production processes. In the automotive industry particles are predominantly created by abrasion during assembly. DEPRAG Schulz GmbH has therefore developed their ”CleanFeed” concept to prevent particle contamination of sensitive components which require a high standard of cleanliness during screw assembly. Technical cleanliness is increasingly being introduced in a wide range of sectors and is becoming an important quality requirement for the whole process chain: from production to logistics to assembly. Sampling System for Solids
Cross-Cut Sampler If samples for the analysis of cornsizedistribution are required, it is not enough to take a controlled section from the solid stream. In order to get a convincing evaluation of the overall product, we recommend to capture the complete product stream and to take a representative cross cut. Our cross cut sampler for verticle gravity chutes is well suited for this type of sample taking. Increments of powder or lumps of solids are taken out and delivered by gravity to a sample bottle or fall into a chute. When activated a cutter pivots through the full product stream, sweeping 90° arc, collecting a true cross-section sample. The cutter inlet is shaped so that all particles from any part of the cross-section have the same probability of being sampled independent of speed of movement. The collected sample quantity can be varied in proportion to the speed of the movement. In order to take samples proportionally over a longer period of time the cross-cut sampler can also be fully automated.

Filtering iron and stainless steel from powders and bulk goods At the Powtech in Nuremberg, Goudsmit Magnetics (stand 2-450) will show a recently developed magnetic system: the continuous cleaning Cleanflow magnet. This removes both iron and stainless steel from powders and bulk goods and achieves capacities of up to 200 tonnes/hour. The system is suitable for installation in ATEX zone 20/22 and can be cleaned without stopping the product flow. It can be installed directly below the sieve or even just before the loading/packing point. The Cleanflow magnet is easy to integrate into existing production processes. In addition to preventing damage claims, magnets protect machines from seizure due to iron contamination and resulting expensive production standstills. The magnet has been developed for applications such as those found in the sugar industry. In particular, the emergence of computer algorithms for the fully automated analysis of diffraction patterns have pushed the technique to develop into a new kind of scanning microscopy technique, known as “orientation imaging microscopy, OIM*” [1] or “crystal orientation microscopy/mapping, COM”. It uses computer algorithms for the automated analysis of the diffraction patterns. The COM technique is based on the consecutive acquisition of electron diffraction patterns obtained from every point of a scan grid on a flat surface of a steeply inclined sample in the SEM.

To respond to this growing demand, M.I.P. opens a new facility in Moerdijk (the Netherlands) for the production of composite tanks and silos up to a diameter of 9 meter. Starting from 2018, the facility will be able to produce storage systems up to a diameter of 15 meter and a height of 20 meter. Growing interest in composite Traditionally, tanks and silos are made of steel (stainless or black). However, steel is not suitable for all applications, as agressive liquids cause corrosion and rapid deterioration of the tank. Hygroscopic solids are sensitive to moisture caused by condensation, as steel has a high thermal conductivity. Composite material – a mixture of polyester resin reinforced with glass fibre – is extremely resistant to corrosive chemicals such as acids, bases and chlorides. Furthermore, as composites are thermal isolators, silos suffer much less from condensation

Today gigantic paper machines are used in the various processing steps to turn the pulp into paper. Paper manufacture – this is an enormous challenge for machine builders, as individual components need to be able to withstand extreme pressures. DEPRAG SCHULZ GMBH u. CO. in Amberg, Germany manufactures stainless steel air vane motors which have proven to be the optimal drive solution for numerous areas of application. In stock preparation for paper machines for example: pulp and wood pulp as well as waste paper fibres are mixed in a certain proportion depending on the type of paper, and then dissolved in water. Chemical bulking agents and additives are also added. This aggressive liquid must be ”agitated” repeatedly. For this application, the engineers have developed DEPRAG POWER LINE air motors with acid-resistant stainless steel housing made from V4A material.
