Explosion Safety in recycling plants Immark is exploring new horizons
Explosion Safety in recycling plants
Immark is exploring new horizons Everyone is talking about Explosion Safety and the associated effects in conventional production plants. It’s also an important issue in other areas. One of them is the recycling industry where, during the separation, shredding and processing of combustible materials explosion-prone dusts are created. The Immark AG developed a new recycling plant, which was recently awarded the 2017 Swiss Recycling Award. By using this system, it is possible to avoid the incineration of the complete cartridges, if the toner cartridges are delivered to Immark AG. The new Immark AG (Switzerland) toner recycling plant has a processing capacity of 1500 tonnes per year, and is therefore capable of recycling the toner cartridges of the entire Swiss market. The biggest challenge in the development of the new system was managing the potential for dust explosions, caused by airborne dust particles. In order to avoid an explosion, an inert agent has been used which is constantly introduced

NEW, hydraulically damped single-point range expanded. Now available in capacities up to 200 kg.
NEW, hydraulically damped single-point range expanded.
Now available in capacities up to 200 kg. Single point load cells possess the particular characteristic to be insensitive for a moment. This allows measurement of eccentric positioned loads. This way weighing arrangements with surface sizes up to 600 x 600 mm can be realized with one sensor only. Additionally to this characteristic the hydraulically damped sensors add insensitivity to shocks and vibrations. It seems contradictory, but thanks to the frictionless damping, these load cells quickly offer a stable weighing signal. This feature allows utilization for fast processes such as sorting and filling by weight. The 260 series is now expanded with carrying capacities up to 200 kg. In addition, the design has been modified to improve the protection class, from IP66 to IP68. This was achieved by means of a smart pressure equalization of the housing. Furthermore, the enclosure is out of stainless steel. Integrated is a central overload protection, both in tension and compression. All of these features make type

Particulate Solids Conference 10 - 14 September 2018, University of Greenwich campus, London
Particulate Solids Conference
10 - 14 September 2018, University of Greenwich campus, London The International Conference on Conveying and Handling of Particulate Solids (CHoPS) is the 9th in a series, since it started in Tel-Aviv in 1994. The previous eight conferences gave us excellent opportunities to get acquainted with each other and to share advanced information on solids handling. The Conference theme is “Fusion of science and industry: from particle contacts to bulk behaviour”. It will focus on the emerging opportunities and challenges in solids handling technology, and the application of both these and established knowledge, in the process industries and the equipment manufacturing sector. The scope will range from pharmaceuticals to mining and minerals, including food, chemicals, power generation, waste, environment and all other sectors that process powders and bulk solids. If you deal with particulates – you have to be at CHoPS, no other conference in the area is as large, as international, and as wide ranging in both industry and academic

EasyClean – clean your feeder the simpley way
EasyClean – clean your feeder the simpley way
The general trend towards shorter product life cycles and towards individual customer manufacture in small batch sizes affects the whole manufacturing chain. As a result, operators of production plants require their operating organisation and machine equipment to be designed and implemented to cope with frequent product changes and small production batches with consistent quality at defined costs. This means for the bulk material processing industry to keep manufacturing batches separated when products are changed. A contamination between the different batches is inconvenient in the best case. In the worst case, however, this can result in the total loss of the produced batch. Along with the costs of the raw material used, increased costs may arise for the disposal of the contaminated material. The resulting loss of profits must also not be forgotten if the faulty batch is not accepted and cannot be processed further. The clean separation of batches when processing

Dynamic Image Analysis of metal powders Particle characterization of Metal Powders with Dynamic Image Analysis
Dynamic Image Analysis of metal powders
Particle characterization of Metal Powders with Dynamic Image Analysis Production capacities for specialized metal powders are increasing worldwide. Advances in production technologies generate a demand for tailored and tightly controlled powders with distinctive proper ties in terms of chemical composition, particle size distribution, and particle morphology , as these greatly influence the subsequent processing. This applies to conventional powder metallurgy processes (mixing-compacting-sintering) as well as to more advanced techniques like metal injection molding (MIM) or additive manufacturing (AM). For MIM, metal powder is mixed with a binder and injected into a mold, followed by thermal or chemical removal of the binder and ? nal sintering (Fig. 1). A rapidly growing technology for the production of metal par ts is additive manufacturing. The term comprises different techniques like selective laser sintering, selective laser melting, or electron beam melting. In all these processes, the product is built layer-by-layer. Each layer
