Rotonivo® 6000 series according to functional safety The terms ‘functional safety’ and ‘safety integrity level (SIL)’ have occurred more frequently since the publication of the international standard IEC 61508/IEC61511. Particularly in systems with hazard-causing processes, such as in chemical plants, the consideration of functional safety has become indispensable. On this basis safety-related practices, design principles and error considerations must be met in order to minimize the risk of a dangerous failure. The UWT engineers focused on this topic and redesigned the rotating paddle switch Rotonivo® RN6 series according to the normative requirements of functional safety to ensure safety functions in a risk mitigation in accordance with SIL2. MOLOSroto rotary paddles avoid explosions even in very dusty environments! Even it is difficult to imagine, working in such an environment is life threatening. Dust is able to explode! The reasons for that are the increased reactivity and the lower thermal conductivity due to the large specific surface area. For example a fire ball with more than 15 m in diameter arises, if only 1.5 kg of pulverised lignite is detonated by a spark. But what might dust mean? Dust consists of smallest, finely divided solid particles of any shape, structure and density with a particle size of less than 0.5 mm that sediment due to the self-weight but although remain airborne as a dust/air mix for a time. Level measurement in explosive atmospheres requires know-how provided by MOLLET Before level measurement in a potentially explosive atmosphere could be operated the potential risk of explosion has to be evaluated in a risk assessment. Part of this is the evaluation of the formation of explosive atmospheres. This will occur only, if atmospheric oxygen in sufficient quantities, an effective ignition source and combustible material appear at the same place. Combustible material could be flammable dust, gas and hybrid mixtures. Flammable dust means dust, fibers or suspended particles which can burn or glow in the air and could explode in atmospheric conditions. Products like coal dust, aluminium powder, powdered sugar, wheat flour or dust caused by grain are included. These dusts occur permanently by transportation, filling and discharging of bulk solids and are often been spread over the entire premises. Depending on the danger of explosion the premises is classified into different potentially explosive atmospheres according to the ATEX guidelines.

Reliable all-rounder for level measurement in bulk solids The rotary paddle switches of the MOLOSroto series are the ideal solution for level monitoring in the areas of storage, processing and transportation. Fine powders of the pharmaceutical industry can be reliably measured as well as sand and coarse gravel for the building material industry or plastic granular or wood pellets. The inspiration for the implementation of these ideas was the MBA-owned patent for magnetic coupling. Energy efficient level indicators for bulk solids applications The request of many customers to save energy in their production processes can be realized not only with high end sensors but although with level indicators that enable a reliable and price worthy level measurement without any power supply. The level indicators of the MOLOSmembran series of MOLLET exactly meet this requirement and are used from satisfied customers worldwide in the applications storage, transport and processing of bulk solids. The MOLOSmembran level indicators of MOLLET are mechanical switches for bulk solids with a bulk density from 0.3 to 2.5 g/m³. As soon as the bulk material reaches the sensor, the signal is switched by the pressure of the bulk material on the membrane.
